The Cave Maze was a nice little mini event idea, intertwined with Sasquatch's story. It brought tried and trusted elements from previous events such as the Great Snow Maze to add more sociability into the world. When I logged into Club Penguin for the maze, I saw quite a few helping others and leading the way in the maze to get to the right direction.

The maze itself looked all right, though perhaps a darker tone with brighter lamps would be more suitable for an underground maze. I liked the ending room in particular, which had a good pun and a reference to the PSA Mission: Mysterious Tremors. The ability to get into a secret room with a drill was also a great feature.

The new music used was not bad either. Overall an 8.2 out of 10. :) Great ev…

    Is the end soon?

April 19, 2015 by Master Flap

Have you heard about Club Penguin closing down its offices across the world? Screenhog, a co creator of the game, posted about the end of Club Penguin on his blog. He says it will end, but not soon. How do you think Club Penguin will end? And when? Do you want it to end?

Our first satisfactory party of the year! Can you believe it? :D After months of me grading parties as Not satisfactory, we finally have a party with a Decent grade! The Puffle Party 2015 was successful on part of Club Penguin working with our feedback in consideration.

    REVIEWED!

This time around, the storyline actually made more sense after Club Penguin treated thoughtful development to it. It involved a subplot of the mystery of Sasquatch. We knew almost nothing about what Sasquatch was doing hanging around Club Penguin up until now. But now we got to learn more about the character as a result of this party. The fact that we still don't know that much about Sasquatch leaves layers of the character to still be unpeeled, and reels us in to see t…

    Pi Day 2015 Review

    March 29, 2015 by CPPerapin

Well I don't have much to say about the Pi Day party because there's very little positives. While it was nice to have signs directing you to the Mine Shack to the event, the event itself was pretty random and did not contribute anything meaningful to the player. Throwing pies instead of snowballs? What does that have to do with anything? Gary and Rookie did not do much to contribute to the party either. Although I did at least like how the Club Penguin Team at least added some Pi related formulas to the chalkboard. I'd rather a Pet Rock Day or Haiku Day Party. Overall it's a 1.2 out of 10.

Not as good as it sounds. ↓

Cadence didn't hype up the party as effectively as she could have. The fact that no mascots attended made the interest in the party not as wide as it could have been. Sensei, Gary, and Aunt Arctic attended the Hollywood Party last year and their personalities combined attracted players to meet them. Cadence just appears as a sprite judge and you don't get that personal experience with her. The Club Penguin Times told us the Penguin Band would be coming but unfortunately that turned out to be false.

And like Riyita pointed out in his review, "Cadence randomly decided to have a radio station, and for penguins to make music. It all came out from nowhere, and has no 'meaning'".

Like Juca pointed out in his review, "Mat…

The force isn't strong in this one. ↓

The takeover lacks the necessary Force in the storyline. There's nothing that really motivates us to do anything but the items, and that's a dead giveaway for the storyline's weakness. If it connected to us emotionally, then players could learn something, but unfortunately that isn't present here. It's all about doing simple favors for the major characters, the biggest favor being rescuing Kanan from the Inquisitor (who you must duel), but even that is weakened by a lack of connection to the Sith Lord and the few steps necessary to defeat him. As there's a lack of Force present in the takeover unlike in the Star Wars Rebels TV Show which represented it in showing good and evil consciences, it's a disapp…

Limited holiday spirit. Even the party's logo isn't high quality. ↓

The Merry Walrus Party introduced a character who would become Club Penguin's most controversial, Merry Walrus himself (it's his name and catchphrase). If you think about it, the introduction and inclusion of Merry Walrus is treated like a deus ex machina in order to be "accepted" as host of the Merry Walrus Party. It's quite a cheap plot device based on coincidence, and that's why his appearance came out as shocking to players. Also, Merry Walrus somehow has magical powers, supposedly from a magical island unexplored by us. To top it all of, it's not until shortly before the party that Aunt Arctic finds a storybook about him. We might have been more willing to meet Merry Wa…

    Pirate Party 2014 Review

    December 1, 2014 by CPPerapin

    A cop out. ↓

I found it hard to connect with the storyline, which saw crabs pester and steal from Rockhopper's ship, causing the eventual sinking of the Migrator. That plot device had several weaknesses. First, the telescope could only show one glimpse of the crabs doing just that, completely omitting the progressive element of the storyline. This was way less effective than the telescope scene in 2008 where we could see the "full sequence" of the Migrator sinking. Secondly, just after Club Penguin's weak villain, Skip, who only served as a villain to the Halloween Party because he was a ghost, we get the pirate crabs. I wouldn't be surprised if the pirate crabs were used just because they have the claws to screw Rockhopper's ship. It is de…

    Halloween Party 2014 Review

    November 21, 2014 by CPPerapin

A party struggling for spookiness? ↓

I found it surprising to see that the average user rating for this party has secured itself into the "Prestigious" grade, while my rating for the party secures to the distant (and grim) "Not satisfactory" grade. Maybe I'm just too critical. Considering that the Halloween Parties have been annual since 2005, I have high expectations for exponential improvement each year - and the Halloween Party 2014 doesn't seem to make up for it this year.

The most commented on feature of the Halloween Party - the decorations. The recycling of past Halloween Party decorations often left minimal room for excitement as there was nothing new or original for the older players to enjoy. Unfortunately the lack of interior deco…

A static party for most - a memorable party for few

Let's just cut to the chase. ↓

It was disheartening to see that there was little hype about the party - the absence of promotional login screens and postcard invitations made the party seem like it was meant to be forgetful. I notice that in most parties, there's a lack of "personal" relationship towards the player. It would be more interesting, that instead of getting a cordial invitation from Aunt Arctic from the Club Penguin Times in the format of an advertisement, if we got an invitation via Penguin Mail - perhaps with a randomized personal message. This would then decrease the dull "static" nature of the Anniversary, increase the party's hype, and most importantly make the player be see…

    School & Skate Party Review

    September 28, 2014 by CPPerapin

    What is there to learn?

The School & Skate Party had little potential. The CPU and the Skatepark were simply roleplay areas, but the problem was that these roleplay areas were limited, lacking being intertwined with storyline.

In the plot, Rookie is excited to go back to school that he hosts a grand party. But he rushes and leaves a mess for you to clean up. This really sparked Rookie to continue as a cliché with little progression or interest in his character. In the PSA era, Rookie was a relatable companion in missions who you could inspire. But in the present day, we can't inspire him because we're quite distant to him, thus causing the Club Penguin Team to characterize him as the clichéd "clumsy" person he is, only being used "for goofy …

    Frozen Party Review

    September 3, 2014 by CPPerapin

A party where the fun gets "frozen"

I'll admit that I haven't seen Frozen, nor was particularly interested in it. But I do know that prior to the Frozen Party, there was definitely a lot of hype for it. Though I had really doubted that a Frozen Party would fit suitably in Club Penguin's context, considering how the characters would develop into the game. Like Screenhog said, "Club Penguin. Having a frozen takeover. What would change, exactly? :)" I expected the Frozen Party to make an impact. But really, it fell short, being quite "frozen" in any further interest after the first day of logging in to the party.

There was a definite lack of originality and the characters included were one-dimensional. One thing important about originality is th…

    Hey guys! Taco here.
